Northern California HERC

Developed in 2000, the Northern California HERC is a collaborative response of member institutions to the many challenges of academic recruitment and retention. One particular interest of the Northern California HERC is finding effective ways to assist the spouses and partners of faculty and staff to secure area employment.

A vital aspect of the Northern California HERC is the web-based search engine that includes faculty and staff job listings at all member institutions. This search engine is free and available to anyone seeking employment in higher education. The central location of job postings and regional resources as well as the website's ability to accommodate dual-career searches distinguishes Northern California HERC from other employment websites.

The Northern California HERC is comprised of a diverse group of public and independent schools, colleges, and universities. Member representatives include staff, human resources professionals, institutional leaders, and faculty relations experts.

Mission

The Northern California HERC supports the efforts of each of its member institutions to recruit and retain outstanding faculty, administrators, and staff through the sharing of information and resources.

Goals

Develop and promote a collaborative employment website for faculty and staff positions at member institutions in Northern California.

Promote awareness of the Northern California Higher Education Recruitment Consortium.

Share successful methods and best practices for addressing recruitment and retention issues.
